Narigrantha Prabartana
Women's Resource Cnter
Narigrantha Prabartana (NGP) was established in 1989 as the first and only women's bookstore and publishing house in Bangladesh and remained so till today. We are specialised in books written and focused on and for women. However, it played an activists role in determining the contents and directions to address and resolve women's questions within the broader struggle of the peoples of Bangladesh for life, livelihood and dignity.
Over the years, NGP transformed into Women's Resource Centre as well as a space to discuss, mobilise and act to address issues of social, cultural and political concerns of the women of Bangladesh. NGP has now become a place for social activism and policy advocacy through informal networking and socialisation. Narigrantha is famous for its regular Monday Women's Adda, that has transformed the patriarchal connotation of the bangla word of 'gossiping' into informal social process of transformation and change.
